Lack of knowledge of the “health status” of the railway infrastructure is the problem that INSPECTRAIL addresses. That lack of information is part of the reason that the railway – as a core area of sustainable mobility – is facing important operational challenges: 24% of incidents cause delays and 60% are linked to problems in the infrastructure.
This project involves installing inspection systems in any railway vehicle to provide a complete picture of the state of the infrastructure by using a protected technology that monitors the track, the catenary, wireless communications and surroundings. Data are thus generated with greater frequency, at an affordable price and with an end-to-end view of the infrastructure.
