OEE monitoring to prevent events

Wolco
Wolco

Wolco is an SME dedicated to the manufacture of cutting tools located in Lemona (Biscay). Part of the AAMC (Advanced Aerospace Manufacturing Centre), and the HEGAN (Basque Aerospace Cluster). This company identified the need to know exactly how efficient the plant is in real time in order to be able to take measures and anticipate possible incidents.

By incorporating IoT, Big Data and Cloud technologies, as well as Machine Learning, a simple real-time communication system has been designed, connecting data wirelessly from each of the production machines to the cloud, and then downloaded for analysis. Thanks to this system, two out of three of the forming OEE variables have beed monitored in real time, avoiding cables installations in the factory and also keeping track of data through a screen in the plant.

Take a look at the complete case!

Need:

To increase production while machines keep operating  24 hours without night supervision. Also, machines refrigeration need cutting oils, which is flammable, so a monitoring system is implemented to allow instant measures if needed. Monitoring extends to the rest of the machinery aiming to supervise other patterns such as stop reasons, operating time or changing times. Next advance is planned to be real time monitoring.

Area of the company where the solution is focused:

Automotive, Aerospace, Kitchen appliances

Company size: PYME
Sector: Automotive, Aerospace, Kitchen appliances
Location: Lemoa (Bizkaia)

Benefits of the Solution:

  • The monitoring system is programmable, which allows the operator to know when a machine has stopped or there is a problem.
  • Increased worldwide competitiveness and production, as well as greater involvement of control quality and production departments.

Incorporated Technologies:

  • IoT
  • Big Data
  • Machine Learning
  • Cloud
