Basque Country Venture Capital Management is a venture capital management company founded in 1985 by the Basque Government through SPRI to promote and develop venture capital activity in the Basque Country.
Since then, we have boosted the Basque industrial network, participating temporarily in the capital of Basque companies. We invest particularly in entrepreneurship projects with a high innovative component, projects aligned with the European RiS3 strategies, and projects that promote internationalization, growth, and innovation of Basque companies.
A national commitment
The Basque Government considers access to adequate financing for Basque companies an essential element for their competitiveness.
From this perspective, the venture capital funds we manage are a tool that strengthens their equity, which in turn increases their capacity to obtain external long-term funds and enhances their financial and economic stability.
Not only do we offer financial support, but we also collaborate in the management of the company.
The participation of the entities managed by Basque Country Venture Capital Management involves the periodic preparation of strategic plans and management plans. Therefore, it adds seriousness and rigor to procedures and strategies.
Public organizations, in carrying out their function and in response to the responsibility assumed towards society, must strive to ensure informational transparency, an issue that is as critical, if not more, than in private companies.
+ infoThe investment strategy is aligned with the smart specialization strategy defined by the Basque Government, so we primarily seek companies in the fields of Advanced Manufacturing as well as Life Sciences.
We invest exclusively in companies that have their registered office and tax residence in the Basque Country, with a future-oriented project but in need of solid support to carry it out.
Likewise, the funds we manage invest with a time horizon of between 5 and 10 years, both in newly created companies and in already established companies with an expansion or development plan.
